Keep It Under Your Hat Trick

Well the 2007 NHL Playoffs have begun. My beloved Blackhawks didn't make the cut this year, so I'm doing the unthinkable and supporting at team that plays at Madison Square Garden. What can I say? Brendan Shanahan and Sean Avery are making the Rangers fun to watch for the first time in nearly a decade. But I digress. The best thing about the NHL playoffs is Barry Melrose's annual Mullet Gallery. Like the toothless bruisers of old, the truly mullet-headed hockey player is a dying breed. So let's lift a Labatt's Blue to those brave souls who're keeping the hockey drape alive.

"I Regret that I Have but One Career to Give for My Bigotry
This may seem harsh, but Don Imus is an ass. But I'm not referring specifically to his strange, almost free-associative racism. Nor do I refer to any comments he has made in the past (because I had never heard the guy until last week). No, it's because he is beginning to "hint" that his broadcasting days may be over. That's a bit like a man being led to the gallows, only to pronounce that he has decided to end his life. How about the rest of the country is hinting that your broadcasting days are over? And here's the thing: I don't even think the guy deserves to be actively banned from the radio. If he can find some backwater radio station with sponsors fucked up enough to underwrite his show, then the First Amendment says have yourself a gay old time. But just from a practical standpoint, given the odiousness of his comments, this guy needs to stop bitching that he has "apologized enough." Buddy, this is business. You've apologized enough when America forgets about this and you still have a job. Otherwise, you're fucked. Being arrogant about it is not going to help your cause.
I can't believe I even have an opinion about this.
